Spyro: A Hero's Tail is the final chapter in the original Spyro series of games. This PlayStation 2 game was developed by Eurocom and published by Vivendi Universal. Spyro: A Hero's Tail introduces a new antagonist, Red. Red is an elder dragon that was banished from the world for committing heinous acts against his brothers and sisters. One day, this evil dragon returns to the Dragon Realms and uses his Dark Gems to drain the life energy from the world. He then recruits a dangerous army to enslave the surviving dragons. This army is led by none other than Gnasty Gnorc, the villain of the first game. It's up to Spyro and his friends to once again banish Red from the Dragon Realms.Spyro: A Hero's Tail on the PlayStation 2 plays similar to Spyro titles on other consoles. The game is a combination of the action and platform genres. The tiny dragon retains all of the abilities from the previous games, including his powerful fire-breath attack. He can also glide through the air using his wings. Throughout the course of the game, the hero will learn a host of new abilities. Not only will he learn to breathe electricity and ice, but he will also learn to jump on walls and off poles. The hero is not alone in this title; his friends are also available to help him out. You can play as characters like Sparx the Dragonfly, Blink, Sgt. Byrd, and Hunter. Each character has their own unique play style. For example, the levels with Sparx are linear shooting segments. The levels with Sgt. Byrd all take place in the air as you look to destroy targets on the ground. These gameplay segments are interspersed throughout the normal levels to keep the gameplay fresh. This title features over 20 levels of gameplay. There are a variety of environments to explore, including an icy glacier and a murky swamp. This PS2 game will take most gamers around 15 hours to finish if they want to see and do everything. The title includes a large number of gems as well as a variety of other collectibles for the hero to collect. You'll need to use every skill at your disposable to find all items. Gamers who find every collectible in this title will unlock a special ending to view once the game is over. This title has an all-star cast voicing its characters. Jess Harnell, who is famous for voicing Wakko in Animaniacs, voices the hero. Tara Strong also voices a number of roles. You may recognize her as Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony. This title uses an all-new graphics engine to produce high-quality graphics and a smooth frame rate. It is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB. This rating means that the title is suitable for gamers of all ages.
