As the name suggests, "King of Fighters XIII" is one PS3 title in a long line of popular Japanese fighting games. This installment in the classic series provides gamers with a deep and intricate fighting system that makes way for a collection of exciting KOF moves and damaging combos. "King of Fighters XIII" for the PS3 comes with a bevy of amazing modes and fist-pumping action, including the lengthy story that throws challenging bosses at you and an arcade mode that tasks players with advancing through several rounds of a tournament. Bring a friend and play against each other with any of the three dozen characters available in the game. Once you've become a trained fighter, take your skills online to face the best gamers in the world. The video game has over 15 stages and the final boss stage. As you play, you can unlock new costumes for your favorite fighters. "King of Fighters" runs in full HD resolution, allowing you to have a great view of the beautiful animations that make up each fighter's moves."King of Fighters" for the PS3 allows players to select teams of three combatants as they advance from one fight to the next. Gamers can switch from any of the three combatants during combat rounds, as can their opponents, whether human or AI. This can be used to protect characters who are injured or to take advantage of an opponent’s weaknesses by highlighting special tactics of certain character combos. Combat has been updated since the previous installment to create new moves and devastating special powers."King of Fighters XIII" for the PlayStation 3 is the last chapter in a KOF story arc about Ash Crimson that spanned three earlier video games. As is enjoyed in fighting games, the story arc serves to propel gamers to the next round of combat. The powerful demon Orochi was sealed away 1,800 years ago, and Ash Crimson is determined to obtain its power. He has absorbed the souls of two of his previous opponents, who were descendants of the clans who sealed the Orochi. He is moving towards one final victim when an invitation is received for another combat tournament. Gameplay is simple. The game's plot progresses by advancing a select team of three fighters and defeating waves of AI teams. Once the team has reached the end, Ash Crimson turns on Saiki, the host of the tournament, to stop him from stealing Orochi’s power. This becomes the final boss battle, and their fighting takes them through a portal that literally changes the flow of time.In addition to the story mode, several other modes of play are available. The "King of Fighters" arcade match that pits two teams of combatants against each other in round after round of heavy battle will test your skills. This makes PS3's "King of Fighters XIII" a great gaming experience for a group of friends and ensures the PlayStation game will have lasting appeal. This PlayStation 3 game is suitable for ages 13 and up.
