DR WHO, HORROR OF FANG ROCK
Being a fan of the classic Dr Who series, I was delighted to see this gem from the Tom Baker era available on e-bay. We would all agree that the new series is technically better than the old, with the comfort of new/up dated effects, & a blend of mature, brilliant writing that shape it both digitally & creatively. This however somehow takes away the simplicity of the classic series, the fondness of the crass sticky-back plastic monsters that we all remember with affection. This is one of those monsters unfortunately, but that takes nothing away from a good story set in a lighthouse, which allows for a small cast to get to grips with the atmosphere of the story. This adventure also introduces the Rutons into the series, (the later being the enemy of the Sontarens). The small cast enables the viewer to familiarise themselves with the characters & watch with anticipation as they slowly get picked off one by one. The dvd has a few extras, such as commentry by Louise Jameson (Leela) and a nice feature on who merchandise, shame Tom doesnt feature though.

Wand Company Star Trek communicator Expensive but great fun
For authenticity, working detail and great fun this is the model to buy. The packaging is great and really gives you a sense of style. The communicator comes in a small protective case that houses all the individual parts. The communicator its self is robust but light -weight. It has many original voices from the series (Spock McCoy Sulu Scotty etc) plus many sound effects too. The jewel in the crown is the blue tooth function that connects to your phone. You get the hailing sound when the phone rings and the connection is crystal clear. On the down side the two small buttons on the communicators face can be quite fragile and seeing as you need to toggle these repeatedly to access all the voices replies, commands etc that could be something that the designer looks at improving. To finish the communicator comes with a magnetic stand so you can display it too if you should wish. So a great piece of nostalgia and fun which looks good and sounds good. These are not cheap and increasing in value all the time but in my opinion it's the best model for Collectiors (The phaser too is great). So Congratulations to the Wand Company for a great item.
