Fright Night 3D Blu-ray New

Not the original - but still worthwhile
I always cringe a little when Hollywood tries to remake a classic like Fright Night. The first one was a real kick in the butt when it came out so I didn't expect this one to top it - especially the way Hollywood likes to trod upon their own history. And true to form - it did not have the punch of the original - but it was still a fun little popcorn muncher that moved fast enough to keep you entertained for an hour and a half. I'm not a big fan of Colin Ferrell, but have to say he was a good fit for the original Chris Sarandon vampire lead - just creepy enough to make it work. The plot is still the bare bones idea from the original - they updated and switched the twists around enough to keep it interesting and fun - but still rather faithful too. Not a new classic or anything - but more entertaining than I expected for sure.

The Climb of Their Lives
More or less a paint-by-numbers documentary about a fatal climb up Everest. Lots of stars you'll recognize and an engaging enough story to keep you interested to the end. I did not realize it is based on a true story which made it that much more enjoyable for me. Not the best movie you'll see this year - not the worst either. If you're looking - you probably know what you're getting and enjoy it.
