I attempted to leave feedback for your purchase of this Ingraham Radium Fireball Clock and was surprised to see that the listing was REMOVED for so called "Policy Violations"... AFTER I sold it to you !!! (I am glad you like it) What is is with EBAY? I bought this clock maybe 10 years ago on Ebay. At 72 it is time for me to pare down my collection of vintage radio active clocks, compasses, sextants and such. Most of which I obtained from others on Ebay over two decades ago.

Excellent but wrong resistor
4 personnes sur 4 ont trouvé cet avis utile This unit works very well for the first several hours then the lamp goes out. After discharging the wire cage and opening the unit, I discovered that one resistor of unknown value had burned out. Obviously this burned resistor in both of these was under rated for powering the lamp. So I obtained a 50k 1/2 Watt resistor for each of these and soldered them in place where the burned resistor was. The result is that they both work flawlessly. It takes only 10 to 15 min to replace the burned under rated resistor with a 1/2 Watt 50k one. So it is not a big deal to make that replacement. Just make sure that you discharge the wire cage before opening these up, lest you receive a very nasty shock. So one star short due to bad under rated resistors which are easy to replace with 50k 1/2 Watt ones.
I just ordered two more and found that the resistor in question is rated at 1/4 W 5100 Ohms, or 5.1K. Just replace this one with one 1/2 W 47K or two parallel 1/4W 100K resistors to make it 1/2W at 50K Ohms and these will work just fine. The nice thing about replacing the units under rated resistor with my suggested resistors is that the bulb now lights without going out, making this an excellent product. The supplier of these needs to be informed of this change to make these better for those not inclined to do the simple task of replacing the resistor.

Well worth the money
This is well made. Very strong external plastic case. Easy to use. In seconds it gives very accurate readings, plus or minus about about point 1 (.1) degree accuracy.
