Qui sommes-nous ?

I've been selling merchandise on eBay since 2003. I started out by selling vinyl records almost exclusively. A few years back I decided to sell general merchandise, including records, that appealed to me and my aesthetic sensibilities. I am a longtime audiophile and stereophile with a passion for classical music.

I've been happily married to my Egyptian wife for 50 years (we met and were married in New York City), and our two children are now adults and live on their own, one in Pittsburgh, PA (near us) and one in Los Angeles, CA. We are both Christians, and we participate in various volunteer ministries in our local church.

What distinguishes me from other purveyors of vinyl records is that I clean every record I auction, except for already sealed records. I also assign both a visual grade and a play grade to each record I sell. I grade records quite conservatively using Goldmine standards of Mint (sealed), NM, NM-, VG+, VG, VG-, G, and Poor. I repair sleeves, too!

What I Thinks of Elmers's Rubber Sea-ment
Getting tired of spending beaucoup bucks on little bottles of this adhesive, I reckoned it's 'bout time I fetched me a big-ass can of this stuff. Works like a charm, every time. And I DOES mean ev-er-y time. No brag; just fact. Eee-haw! Ride 'em Elmer!

Feels Watered Down
The smell of this hand soap is very nice indeed, and It does what it's supposed to do (viz., clean your hands!). Judging by how it feels when I lather up, however, I can't help but compare it to the less expensive pine-scented soap from Bath & Body Works. Their foaming hand soap feels much more slippery in the hand than the Michel Design Works soap, which feels kind of watered down. Attractive container, though.

A Decent 14K Pen For Under Sixty Dollars
Anytime you can find a decent 14K pen for under sixty bucks, you should probably snatch it up. So I did, when I purchased the Sheaffer Prelude from Pen Hero on eBay. The Prelude is comfortable in my average-size hand, and it writes very well. Ink flow is good, Build quality is very good. Its appearance is very good. One quibble, however--well, two quibbles to be honest, is that the red color of the pen is a little dull. For me, it just doesn't "pop." Second, the smoothness of the writing experience was less than ideal. Truth be told, though, I wind up smoothing virtually every nib on every pen I purchase, even nibs on some very highly regarded pens. Now I don't want to give the impression that I had to spend hours of getting the nib to perform to my satisfaction. Just a few minutes' effort had the Prelude writing the way I wanted it to. Overall, I liked this pen. That it was made in China does not change my opinion of it. I predict that some day, "Made In China" will graduate from its second-class reputation, much the way "Made In Japan" graduated from its reputation of meaning "inferior in quality" to "highly regarded in quality." Ever heard of Sony? Yamaha? Hitachi? Sailor? Platinum? Well, maybe someday you'll hear of of Wing Sun, Duke, Jinhao, and others, and think "quality stuff"!
