It was good, but not as good as what I already had.....
I tried this phono preamp against the PS Audio NuWave Phono Converter and my Pro-Ject Phono Box RS, and ended up keeping the Pro-ject. All three are good sounding products (and the NuWave has a built-in ADC), but the Pro-ject worked better for me. I switch back and forth between MM and MC cartridges and the Pro-ject makes it very easy - two switches on the front does it once you have both types set up, and it's easy to mute the preamp as well. The Lehmann was lacking in features and didn't sound better. I know that Michael Fremer raved about it and it won a shootout between modestly (?) priced phono preamps, but it just didn't work for me.

Good, but not better than my current one
I had this unit (used, no longer made) for a couple of weeks; I like the features and the addition of an analog-to-digital converter was a plus, but my main interest was to get an upgrade to the Pro-ject Phono Box RS I already have. This unit, while good, was not IMO as good as my Pro-ject, which has a little clearer sound and features that are easier to access. FYI, I also tried the Lehmann Black Cube SE and that also didn’t best the Pro-ject, and has less features than the either two. I’m using a Schiit Jil as an ADC when I need one, which is not often.

My upgrade from vintage speakers has arrived!
I've had these speakers for about 3 weeks, and I'm glad that I got them; bought them used for just under a grand. I have a pair of vintage Boston Acoustics A150's that I replaced the surrounds on, and tested a few speakers, seeing if I was missing something. I tried 3 of the ELAC offerings, and couldn't find enough difference to justify replacing what I had, but these LS50's are another story. The mids and highs are clear; some reviewers don't like the brightness, but as a former musician who has spent too much time next to crashing cymbals and blaring amplifiers, they sound fine to me. The amount of non-boomy bass that comes out of these is astounding. I have powered these with amps that had 100wpc/125wpc/200wpc and they all sound good, even though they are not very efficient; the Elacs suffered from lack of bass with the 100wpc amp. These do need to be away from the front wall by a couple feet so the rear port can do its magic, and solid, heavy stands that don't vibrate with the speaker. Right now I don't have a subwoofer hooked up but probably will after I get my system the way I want it - Stereophile says these are good to down about 50 hz, even though their specs say otherwise, and they will go a bit lower, but they don't like it.
