The Leica Summilux-M is a hand-assembled wide-angle lens. This Leica aspherical lens offers a fast maximum aperture f/1.4 lens, suitable for rapid shooting. The aperture allows greater light to enter lens at the expense of depth of focus that effectively disengages the subject from its background. The Leica Summilux-M features a viewfinder that allows the photographer to focus and compose in the same window, improving the speed by which the photographer can handle the camera. The focal length of this wide-angle lens is 24 mm and it offers a minimum focusing distance of 2 feet, 3 inches. This Leica aspherical lens offers a construction consisting of 10 elements in eight groups. The aspherical lens system in the Leica Summilux-M also contains five elements along with an anomalous partial dispersion element that eliminates distortions by decreasing scattering of light. This results in flare-free clarity and highly detailed images. In addition, the floating lens element helps preserve a high-resolution image even at high magnifications.
