The Master System's answer to The Legend of Zelda, Golvellius: Valley of Doom has richer graphics and similar gameplay but is not as beloved or as well known as the NES classic. Players control a sword-wielding, shield-toting knight on a quest to save the daughter of the good King Alied. The evil king, Golvellius, is terrorizing the valley (all seven sections of it) with his army of mutated bees, spiders, frogs and other hideous beings, and it is up to the brave knight to save the day. Killing enemies rewards the player with gold, which can be used for purchasing weapons, equipment upgrades, tips and other useful items. Thankfully, unlike many previous Master System games, Golvellius has a password feature for saving your progress through the long and involved adventure quest.
