Army Men: Operation Green marks the second outing of 3DO's prolific franchise on the Game Boy Advance. Once again a luckless soldier belonging to the Green Army finds himself executing maneuvers deep behind the Tan Army's enemy lines. Though it eschews its predecessor's cartoon-style visuals in lieu of a more realistic approach, Army Men: Operation Green makes use of a similar isometric overhead view of the action.
Although initially armed with only a basic pistol, players can find crates containing machine guns, grenades, and missiles to help them complete objectives. A small onscreen cursor is provided to assist with aiming. Spanning five environments, the 17 missions are filled with enemy soldiers, gun emplacements, minefields, guard towers, and bunkers. Up to four vehicles are also available, including tanks, helicopters, and half-tracks. A password save system allows players to resume their progress at a later time.
