The LG 29UM65-P 29-inch IPS LCD LED ultra-wide monitor with built-in speakers stands in its own class. This 29-inch wide monitor was designed to deliver clear, crisp pictures, making it easy to watch your favorite content. With an aspect ratio of 21:9, this monitor provides a whole new experience for video gaming or watching movies. The wide screen makes it possible to increase your productivity since it seamlessly displays up to four split screens. It’s possible to edit content on one-half of the 1080p full HD screen while viewing movies or videos on the other half. Crystal-clear audio comes from the built-in speakers while the dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 ensures the brightest whites and blackest blacks are displayed on its vivid color screen. This monitor is compatible with a variety of systems and can be paired with a PC or Mac. Widescreen monitors are great for watching downloaded TV content or Blu-ray, as well as being well-suited for PC games. The LG 29UM65-P 29-inch IPS LCD LED ultra-wide monitor is built for serious productivity, and if you’re a multitasker this is the perfect unit for you. Its extraordinary aspect ratio of 21:9 means that it also features an out-of-the-ordinary resolution of 2560x1080 pixels. Like many other LG devices, the 29UM65 monitor comes with almost no physical bezel on its sides and top edge. When the monitor is turned on, there is a visible 5mm of bezel around the edges, but when turned off the front looks like one smooth layer of plastic. There is a bit of a thicker bezel on the bottom that houses the 14-watt built-in speakers. This unit features a decent range of input ports to ensure that it caters well to a wide range of Mac and PC users. The HDMI and DisplayPort 1.2 have enough versatility to cover most users. A dual-link DVI-D works well with older PCs. It’s possible to use the monitor’s internal stereo output with the rear headphone jack, as well as input audio for both the 3.5-millimeter connector or digital video connectors. The pixel display of 2560x1080 is every bit as good as expected and features a screen finish that’s more matte than glossy, with its anti-glare coating. The unit features excellent viewing angles, even at the edges of the ultra-wide screen. With its onscreen user interface, LG has provided a comprehensive calibration engine. You can choose the preset settings, or tweak your own contrast, brightness, or white balance settings. The straight out-of-the-box settings present an accurate color palette and feature decent detail in both highlight and shadow regions for on-screen images. The unit’s on-screen interface is controlled by a multidirectional joystick that sits below the center lower front of the screen’s bezel. This is the only control on the monitor and, through it, you turn the power on and off as well as navigate through the control menus, all with the help of an on-screen guide.
