Actress Maria de Madeiros (PULP FICTION, HENRY & JUNE) makes her directorial debut with the historical drama CAPITĂES DE ABRIL (CAPTAINS OF APRIL). The film dramatizes the 1974 people's revolt that overthrew Portugal's fascist dictatorship and ended its 40-year history of African colonialism by intertwining the fictional story of rebel Manuel (Frederic Pierrot) and his girlfriend, Antonia (de Madeiros), with the real-life figure of revolutionary leader Salgueiro Maia (Stefano Accorsi).
