In zehn Beiträgen werden die Sprachkontakte des Deutschen mit dem Englischen, Friesischen und Niederdeutschen, mit dem Jiddischen, den skandinavischen Sprachen und deutschen Dialekten dargestellt. Damit liegt erstmals eine zusammenfassende Übersicht zu diesem Bereich deutscher und germanischer Sprachgeschichte vor. In einigen Beiträgen werden neuere Ansätze der Sprachkontakttheorie vorgestellt und aktuelle sprachpolitische Fragen erörtert., Schon seit ihrer Gr ndung in den 1970er-Jahren ist die Reihe Germanistische Linguistik (RGL) exponiertes Forum des Faches, dessen Namen sie im Titel f hrt. Hinsichtlich der thematischen Breite (Sprachebenen, Variet ten, Kommunikationsformen, Epochen), der Forschungsperspektiven (Theorie und Empirie, Grundlagenforschung und Anwendung, Inter- und Transdisziplinarit t) und des methodologischen Spektrums ist die Reihe offen angelegt. Count on it being delivered 2-3 weeks longer than expected.
