In command of an agile and well-armed vessel, Nano Assault players face a monumental threat on a miniscule scale. At an arcade pace, the miniature Nanite ship battles across electron microscope-inspired environments, blasting away at swarming enemies with missiles, beams, and bombs. The 32 missions of the main campaign involve analyzing and destroying a rogue virus that could wipe out all of humanity. Players unlock more powerful weaponry and face more challenging assaults as they progress toward the virus core.
Handheld-friendly features include the ability to save progress by "cloning" the Nanite at almost any point, in order to respawn and continue at a later time. The game's difficulty level is designed to adjust to the player's skill. High scores can be posted to an online leaderboard, and players can trade unlocked content through StreetPass functionality. Nano Assault was developed by Germany's Shin'en Multimedia, creator of the Nintendo DS' Nanostray games, as well as the Iridion series for Game Boy Advance.
