One of the wackier creations by Sid and Marty Krofft, the prolific and influential children's television producers from the 1970s, LIDSVILLE stars Butch Patrick, who had recently played Eddie Munster on THE MUNSTERS. Patrick plays the inquisitive Mark, who sneaks backstage after a magic show that impressed him, and finds the magician's magic hat. The hat begins to grow when Mark touches it, and he falls into is bottomless depths into the realm of Lidsville. This is a strange and wondrous world populated by ambulatory hats of every ilk, but Mark is unfortunately captured by the evil magician hat Hoo Doo, who believes him to be a spy. Aided in his escape by the friendly Weenie the Genie (Billie Hayes, H.R. PUFNSTUF), whose best intentions are tempered by her faulty magic, Mark spends the duration of the series evading Hoo Doo while searching for a way back home.
