Pioneering experimental composer Philip Glass continues his long-running fascination with Eastern philosophies and cultures in his opera SATYAGRAHA. Centered around famous Indian peacekeeper Mahatma Gandhi's development of "satyagraha," nonviolent resistance, the story also explores the advancement of this philosophy by Russian writer Tolstoy, Indian poet Tagore, and American civil rights hero Martin Luther King. Glass has written music that is reflective of this philosophy, and the production is performed at Stuttgart's Wurtembergishches Staatstheater.
