In this two-episode installment of the long-running British sci-fi franchise, the sixth manifestation of Doctor Who (Colin Baker) and his companion, Perri (Nicola Bryant), travel to the planet Necros where the Tranquil Repose facility cryogenically freezes the deceased until medical advances are made that can bring them back to life. The dead even have their own DJ who pipes in the latest music and news from the galaxy so they can stay up to date. However, it soon becomes clear that something is rotten in the state of Necros: namely, the "Great Healer" of Tranquil Repose is actually the nefarious Devros, the original creator of the great galactic menace, the Daleks. It turns out that Devros has been using the brains of the deceased to manufacture a new army of Daleks, but his plan goes awry with the arrival of the doctor, an honorable assassin, and some of the original Daleks. Filled with oddball humor and outlandish sci-fi settings, this DOCTOR WHO adventure (though coming at a low point in the series history) is a campy classic (inspired, amazingly, by Evelyn Waugh's THE LOVED ONE).
