Super R.B.I. Baseball marks the debut of the R.B.I. series on the Super Nintendo. The game includes 700 actual players from 28 teams (no Major League Baseball license), with player statistics and rosters based on the 1994 season. You can also choose from any of the Division Champions from 1989-93 or even the All-Star lineups from 1989-94. Play modes include a Single Game, Home Run Derby, Defense Practice, Game Breakers (17 different scenarios to try and complete), Best of Seven series and League, which lets you play one game against every team in the league.
Gameplay is strictly arcade-based, so you steer the pitch and swing the bat as the ball nears the plate. Once the ball is hit in the air, the perspective switches to a bird's eye view of the field. The game closely follows R.B.I. Baseball '93 on the Genesis with cartoon-like players, authentic stadiums, and "action windows" on the left and right sides of the screen showing animated clips. Super R.B.I. Baseball also features the voice of Jack Buck and 56 tracks of sound effects and organ music. Series games can be continued via passwords.
