Vortex Optics brings you the Diamondback 8x42, a pair of optics offering high-quality and high-performance in a formidable design. Built to last, the lightweight Diamondback features a durable polymer body encased in tough textured rubber armor with thumb grooves. The Diamondbacks are a workhorse from the Vortex lineup. The design is small and lightweight, yet proficiently delivers highly magnified fine details. The focus adjustment on the Diamondback 8x42 has a smooth, comfortable feel. The eyecups are made of soft pliable rubber and twist up and down for use with or without eyeglasses. When wearing glasses, keep the eyecups fully extended and twisted down. When not wearing a pair of glasses, you can tweak them for your comfort. The Diamond is easy to adjust to the individual. Simply turn the barrels inward or outward to line up your eyes with the ocular glass. Use the center focus to adjust the left binocular to your left eye. Then, use the binocular diopter to further adjust the right binocular for focal differences between your left eye and your right eye. In manufacture, the Diamondback 8x42 scope is flushed and then filled with nitrogen gas. The nitrogen prevents the intrusion of moisture, dust, and debris. O-ring seals help prevent nitrogen from escaping. This keeps the Diamondback fog proof, waterproof, and shockproof, providing reliable performance in heavy-duty use scenarios. Even with thermal shock, when you leave a heated room for a cold outdoors, the Diamondback sight picture remains clear. The Diamondback, although compact, provides an extremely high-quality image by using high-tech dielectric glass and specialty coatings. The Diamondback offers 8x magnification with a fully multicoated outer glass surface and phase correcting roof prisms. The roof prisms allow the objective lens to be straight in line with the eyepieces. This greatly improves the Diamondback’s resolution and contrast, reducing glare and maintaining clarity. You see clearly and focus in a range of environments and regardless of weather or light conditions. The 8x magnification Diamondback has a generous exit pupil of 5.25mm. The wide linear field of view clocks in at 420 feet at 1000 yards. This provides a remarkable sight picture in low light, making the Diamondback suitable for any and all light conditions. The interpupillary distance, the space between pupils, is easily adjustable, allowing you to see one crisp image.
