CIMA: The Enemy is a futuristic role-playing game that tells the story of two races locked in bitter conflict. The two worlds are joined together by warp gates, and players are cast in the role of a gate guardian by the name of Ark J. The adventure begins when Ark J is charged with the difficult task of protecting his town from the advances of the mysterious CIMA. What follows is a nonlinear quest offering an estimated 30 hours of real-time combat and adventuring.

Played from an isometric perspective, CIMA: The Enemy features computer-controlled characters referred to as APCs, or active player characters. The concept behind APCs is to allow for independent reactions based on a player's choices during the game, which ultimately shapes the storyline. Rather than sit idly by as players journey between the two worlds, the APCs can be used to solve puzzles or to help shed new light on various situations and encounters. The dramatic narrative touches upon such themes as love, hatred, sorrow, revenge, honor, and more as players unravel the secrecy behind the CIMA race.
