A surprisingly close approximation of the arcade game, the Game Boy edition of Elevator Action features almost arcade-perfect graphics, and even replicates the sound effects and cheerful music of the original game. Where this version differs is by introducing a "life bar," indicating how much damage he's taken on his current life, as opposed to the original's treatment of damage (where a single bullet would kill him). Control is fluid, and the game's incredible tension still runs high while you're waiting on the elevator, or waiting for your spy to pop out from behind a door, which is now surrounded by enemy agents. Solid retro fun, Elevator Action is challenging even for those who are quite adept at the coin-op version.
