Turn a pristine plot of fertile land into a successful farm, before the village decides to build a theme park instead and the land is lost to urban sprawl. This is the motivation for players of Harvest Moon 2, a farming simulation for the Game Boy Color. There's a lot of work to be done on the farm, as crops must be planted and harvested, insects must be collected and studied, and animals must be tended to.
Like running a real farm, the game requires some well considered planning as players must choose the right crops according to value and growing seasons. There are also role-playing elements, as players explore the village and enjoy the market square.
Several new tools and tasks have been added since the original version of Harvest Moon GBC, released a year earlier. Harvest Moon 2 also supports the use of a link cable to allow farmers to trade herbs and fish with other Harvest Moon 2 players, as well as with player's of Natsume's fishing sim Legend of the River King 2.
