Provocative British director Peter Greenaway returns to form with his 2007 film NIGHTWATCHING. The intellectual whodunit follows legendary Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn (Martin Freeman, best known as Tim in the British version of THE OFFICE) as he uncovers a murder-mystery while painting his masterpiece "The Night Watch." When his investigation reveals a dangerous conspiracy that could ruin him and his family, Rembrandt decides to hide clues to the crime within the artwork itself. Like an arthouse THE DA VINCI CODE, NIGHTWATCHING finds Greenaway exploring his signature theme of the meaning of art in the neoclassical style that marked his early films such as THE BELLY OF AN ARCHITECT and THE DRAUGHTSMAN'S CONTRACT.
