This effect pedal works for any amp or instrument combination and for any musical genre ranging from blues to rock to heavy metal.The MI Effects distortion pedal was designed to capture the sounds of an overdriven Marshall tube preamp and then take that crunch a step further. The controls are simple yet versatile, allowing you to affect volume, gain, and tone. The circuits utilize multiple clipping techniques to clip the signal three times. The pedal has an especially noticeable presence in the mid-range, an obvious emulation of British vintage amps. With the gain in a lower setting, the produced tone is reminiscent of punchy, growly classic rock rhythm tones while more gain brings out more overdrive and a screaming lead quality. The tone controls can help produce a warmer bottom tone or richer, more vibrant highs. The internal presence control lets you shape your sound even further by rolling off more lows or adding more high frequencies depending on whether you are playing guitar or bass. The Crunch Box is very precise and touchy, so just slight variations in picking or strumming patterns can produce significantly different results.
