Based on the famous sequence from the Walt Disney film Fantasia, Sorcerer's Apprentice features Disney mascot Mickey Mouse attempting to undo the magic he inadvertently wrought upon himself.
The backstory: Mickey is the apprentice to a mighty sorcerer. Before he is allowed to use magic he must do mundane chores, such as filling the Sorcerer's big tub with water; a chore he despises. One day when the sorcerer was out, Mickey decides to take a break from his labors and use the Sorcerer's magic hat and command a broom to carry the water for him. Well as you can imagine, things don't quite work out as planned. The brooms start multiplying and Mickey can't stop them. This is where the game Sorcerer's Apprentice picks up. As Mickey Mouse, you must stop additional brooms from being produced and create magical buckets to empty out the water from the sorcerer's cavern.
Sorcerer's Apprentice is divided into two screens: screen one takes place on top of the mountain where Mickey must catch or shoot falling stars which will turn into brooms if they land, as well as shoot fireballs at meteors which will create water-emptying buckets. Screen two takes place in Sorcerer's cavern, where Mickey must block the brooms which will prevent them from dumping more water into the cavern, as well as allow the buckets to ascend and empty water out.
