Punch Time Explosion players can lead techno-wizard Dexter into battle against the Kids Next Door's Numbah One, have Billy and Mandy team up against Mac and his imaginary friend Bloo, or make Ben Tennyson get all Ultimate Alien on Samurai Jack. The fighting game's roster includes 18 heroes and villains from Chowder, The Powerpuff Girls, and other classic and contemporary Cartoon Network programs. In addition to standard attacks, different characters have different speeds, strengths, and special moves.
Presented with virtual 3D graphics, the fighting action plays out on a 2D plane. Many of the battle arenas feature tiered platforms, encouraging Smash Bros.-esque evasive maneuvers and attacks from above. Gamers can test their mettle against computer-controlled opponents, or fight head-to-head against one another. In a platform-combat style similar to the one-on-one fighting, Punch Time Explosion also offers a side-scrolling single-player adventure, with plenty of bad guys to beat up along the way.
