This great, mostly forgotten 70's urban actioner was deservedly revived by Quentin Tarantino's distribution company, Rolling Thunder in 1998. The story is as follows: two cops, one black and the other white, are assigned the most difficult and potentially dangerous case of their careers when ambitious robbers hit a fund-raising affair for Michigan's first Black gubernatorial candidate. This results in much double crossing, a lot of gunplay, non-candy coated handling of racial tension, and a fantastically long and gritty chase scene around the fringes of Detroit in large, early 70's model automobiles. A great script and tight performances make this far better than most 70's exploitation films. Recommended!
