An early release for the Sega CD, 1993's Joe Montana's NFL Football features all 28 NFL teams from the most recent season, as well as ten Super Bowl champion teams from years past. Though the basics of gameplay are modeled on the popular Genesis versions of Joe Montana Football, this Sega CD game features graphical upgrades and live-action video clips with Montana himself offering commentary and advice. Instant replays can be viewed from one of four different camera angles, including a "helmet cam." Unfortunately, gameplay suffers from sluggish controls, slow action, a limited view of the field, and frequent fumbling. Also, the visual "enhancements" are nothing more than a distraction, and the brief, oftentimes illogical Montana footage is unintentionally funny.
