A sequel to the previous year's original Invizimals, Shadow Zone is a creature-collecting game that uses a PlayStation Portable camera accessory to send players on an augmented reality safari, in and around their own homes. Invisible to the naked eye, the game's wild animals can only be seen through the camera, as shown on the PSP screen. The handheld is used as a visual scanner, allowing players to see in-game creatures appearing in their real-world environments. The initial retail edition of the game comes with a PSP camera, and a special "Trap Card" that can be recognized by the camera and software. To trap an Invizimal, players place the card in view of the camera, to coax the creature on to it, and then quickly cover the card with a hand to capture their quarry. By winning animal battle tournaments, upgrades are unlocked for favorite fighting creatures. Players can send their creatures to battle in an online multiplayer competition, or hunt for Invizimals together in a cooperative mode. The game includes more than 100 original, virtual animals to be discovered and captured.
