Giana Sisters DS is an updated version of The Great Giana Sisters, which was released for home computers in 1987. Largely inspired by Nintendo's Super Mario Bros., Giana Sisters DS has players navigating more than 80 side-scrolling levels. As Giana, users will enter a magical world via a mysterious treasure chest as they embark on an adventure to collect diamonds.
There are three power-ups that can be found throughout the game. The punk ball will transform Giana into "Punk Giana," allowing her to throw fireballs. Giana can use bubble gum to float over obstacles while soda pop will help her blast through walls. Although the original computer game featured a second playable character, Giana's sister Maria, this DS update does not.
