In 2009, Hasbro began to release action figures based on the movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Other movies and many versions of troopers followed. Cobra Troopers, trained in combat techniques, martial arts, and sabotage, make up the bulk of the Cobra organization’s fighting forces. G.I. Joe is the world’s greatest special-ops fighting force with top-secret ninja training from Arashikage masters. They face all enemies, even the Ninja commando Snake Eyes, and either win the battle or die trying. Cobra Trooper, version 15, was released in the third wave of figures for the Pursuit of Cobra line in 2011. The trooper wears a blue helmet, black web gear, and two black kneepads, and comes with a black and brown rifle, a black, brown, and olive green RPG launcher, two black pistols with two black silencers, a black knife, and gray barbed wire. The Retaliation G.I. Joe trooper, seen in the stand-alone sequel to the 2009 film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, has a highly detailed and fully articulated body that includes hinged wrists. The 1:18 action figure is dressed in a plain military-like set of coveralls with sculpted wrist pouches and kneepads and a high-around-the neck, blue or tan neck scarf. The G. I. Joe Trooper comes with a masked and unmasked head sculpt. The helmet has a sculpted visor, faceplate, and mouth cover. He’s not a standard army trooper; he’s special ops, so he has the best gear. The trooper comes equipped with two knives, two large pistols, two smaller pistols, an assault rifle, a scoped rifle, a grenade launcher, a shovel, and a gas mask, as well as a backpack that holds all the gear and a “survival cloak.” G.I. Joe Trooper, version 1 was also released in 2008 with the Toys R Us exclusive Firefly vs. G.I. Joe Troopers pack, which included four G.I. Joe Troopers. Each trooper comes with a green helmet, brown web gear, a black rifle, a black submachine gun, a black pistol, a black and silver knife, and a black display stand. G.I. Joe Troopers are a great addition to any collection.
