Reviews
Utterly compelling, heartbreaking, truthful and yet redemptive, a memoir of the Holocaust, a testimony of irrepressible spirit and an unforgettable family chronicle, written in lucid prose by a truly remarkable woman about her life from Hungary to Auschwitz, Israel to London. I couldn't stop reading it., Though Lily saw and experienced inhumanity at its lowest ebb, her reaction was not one of bitterness or cynicism, but of hope and compassion. Lily has dedicated her life to sharing her astonishing story so that the world would never again descend into such depths. Yet Lily's Promise is only half of the battle. It falls to us to heed her words and to internalize and learn from them. This book calls every reader to action. Lily's message of hope over despair is more necessary today than it has ever been., The beauty and optimism of Lilly's words & her life are a light in a world that needs to hear her story now more than ever. She and her great-grandson Dov remind us all that, whatever darkness there may be, there's always room for hope to shine.

Synopsis
"Utterly compelling, heartbreaking, truthful and yet redemptive . . . a testimony of irrepressible spirit and an unforgettable family chronicle. I couldn't stop reading it."--Simon Sebag Montefiore In this life-affirming intergenerational memoir, Lily Ebert, a Holocaust survivor, and her great-grandson, Dov Forman, come together to share her story--an unforgettable tale of resilience and resistance. On Yom Kippur, 1944, fighting to stay alive as a prisoner in Auschwitz, Lily Ebert made a promise to herself. She would survive the hell she was in and tell the world her story, for everyone who couldn't. Now, at ninety-eight, this remarkable woman--and TikTok sensation, thanks to the help of her eighteen-year-old great-grandson--fulfills that vow, relaying the details of her harrowing experiences with candor, charm, and an overflowing heart. In these pages, she writes movingly about her happy childhood in Hungary, the death of her mother and two youngest siblings on their arrival at Auschwitz, and her determination to keep her two other sisters safe. She describes the inhumanity of the camp and the small acts of defiance that gave her strength. Lily lost so much, but she built a new life for herself and her family, first in Israel and then in London. Dov knows that it is up to younger people like him to keep Lily's promise. He and Lily bridge the generation gap to share her experience, reminding us of the joy that accompanies the solemn responsibility of keeping the past--and our stories--alive., INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER In this life-affirming intergenerational memoir, Lily Ebert, a Holocaust survivor, and her great-grandson, Dov Forman, come together to share her story--an unforgettable tale of resilience and resistance. Very satisfied! Reliable seller with fair prices. One ordered item turned out to be sold during the process, but was promptly refunded. Other ordered items arrived eralier than estimated. They were neatly packed and in the condition described. Contact with seller prior to the order wasn't possible, but communication afterwards was spotless.

Item is as described in post, great quality, clean, not damaged, great purchase. I'd like to point out that it was also shipped promptly, arrived on time, but the local post office refused to send me any notification of it arriving. Therefore I only got it today, almost a month late. The seller is at no fault, they shipped it on time. So I am highly satisfied with my purchase and the seller, highly recommend them for anyone on Ebay. Great books at great prices, amazing experience.
