A true film industry pioneer, Ray Harryhausen took stop-motion animation to an entirely new level and revolutionized the special effects industry. His innovative work, which inspired directors like George Lucas, Peter Jackson, and Sam Raimi, is still influential; he did more with the technology of the time than anyone before and most people since. His effects were integrated with live action in classics such as CLASH OF THE TITANS and JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS (famous for its sword fighting skeletons), but RAY HARRYHAUSEN: THE EARLY YEARS COLLECTION brings together a selection of Harryhausen's previous and lesser-known attempts at filmmaking. Included in the collection are his versions of Mother Goose stories and various fairy tales, several short films and demos, technological experiments, and a broad selection of making-of shorts, interviews, and featurettes.
