Synopsis
"What distinguishes scientists, in your eyes?"--Stefan Klein "First and foremost, curiosity."--Roald Hoffmann, Nobel Prize?winning chemist, "What distinguishes scientists, in your eyes?" --Stefan Klein "First and foremost, curiosity." --Roald Hoffmann, Nobel Prize-winning chemist When Stefan Klein, an acclaimed journalist, sits down to talk with 18 of the world's leading scientists, he finds they're driven by, above all, curiosity. When they talk about their work, they turn to what's next, to what they still hope to discover. And they see inspiration everywhere: From the sports car that physicist Steven Weinberg says helped him on his quest for "the theory of everything" to the jazz musicians who gave psychologist Alison Gopnik new insight into raising children, they reveal how their paradigm-changing work entwines with their lives outside the lab. We hear from extraordinary natural and social scientists, including: Evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins on ego and selflessness Primatologist Jane Goodall on chimpanzee behavior Neuroscientist V. S. Ramachandran on consciousness Geographer Jared Diamond on chance in history Anthropologist Sarah Hrdy on motherhood And cosmologist Martin Rees on how "ultimately we ourselves are stardust.", When Stefan Klein, an acclaimed journalist, sits down to talk with 18 of the world's leading scientists, he finds they're driven by, above all, curiosity. - a***m (119)- Évaluations laissées par l'acheteur.6 derniers moisAchat vérifiéThe books were packed with care and arrived early. I was very pleased with the price I paid for the items I received. The books looked even better in person than they did in the photo. Although these are used paperback books, the condition they are in is like new. Overall, I am happy with this order. The seller did a great job!4 Lot Science Fiction by F Paul Wilson, Harbingers, Crisscross, Legacies , Hosts (n°184949290753)
- r***h (113)- Évaluations laissées par l'acheteur.6 derniers moisAchat vérifiéReally happy with this purchase. Both items are in excellent new condition, as described. The packaging was very well done. They were in a nice compact box that fit the books just right and an inner waterproof wrap which i greatly appreciated because we have had a lot of rain lately & unfortunately our mailbox flops open. It was nice to have dry books! Packing slip included. Based on this transaction, i definitely recommend this conscientious seller. The Dragons of Blueland Book Set of 2 Guided Reading Group Ruth Stiles Gannett88 (n°183752434750)
